We are still dealing with wonky internet, so no photos. We will post them soon!
We woke up early to make the hour drive South through the windy mountains to get to our sea kayaking destination. Once there, we hopped a boat which took us to a remote bay where the kayaks were waiting, then geared up. We were on two person kayaks with steering pedals. We kayaked out to Seal Island to view the endangered furry seals, then pulled onto the beach of a beautiful cove for lunch. The scenery of this section of the national park is stunning, with the water bright green and blue and "golden beaches" stuffed between steep, rocky shorelines with green trees and ferns climbing up the cliffs. On our way back, the wind had picked up a considerable amount, allowing us to band together our kayaks and"sail" in with a makeshift sail, it was a pretty neat trick!
Special thank you to: Jess, Kyle, Raine, Kim, Max, Stelios, Nick and Karissa for our sea kayaking day!
We were pretty exhausted after being out in the sun all day, so decided to stop in Takaka for dinner again for a venison and a beef burger. It was delicious! All the food here has really been amazing. We have been so spoiled!
We ended the day drinking fabulous wines we bought at Allan Scott and Rimu Grove vineyards, watching the beautiful orange sunset over the water, then sharing a bath under the stars. This house is truly spectacular!
Kayaking sounds SO FUN especially in a two person one. I looked up your Eco Lodge on Google and it actually shows your bathtub out in the open. I can only imagine what it must have been like under the stars!
