Interislander Ferry + Blenheim

We woke up early to take the Interislander ferry from the North to South island yesterday. It is rated as the “most beautiful ferry ride in the world.” It took a total of 3.5 hours and lived up to the hype, despite the less than ideal, windy weather. We took our little Corolla with us and were one of the first cars off the boat on the other side. Success! Here are a couple of photos:

Once we arrived, we drove 30 minutes SE to Blenheim, a beautiful little town in the Marlborough wine region. Here is a map of where we are:

We checked into our lovely Airbnb cottage, hung out with the alpaca and roosters on site, then headed to lunch at Allan Scott winery (recommended by Wendy, our Airbnb host.) They take tours in vintage cars, which we were not early enough to attend. However, we did enjoy a delicious tasting of wines and yummy lunch. Cameron got the seafood chowder and it was one of the best we’ve ever tried. Once finished eating, we went to relax in the beanbag chairs they had in their garden.

We were pretty exhausted by the time we finished, so came back to relax in our cottage. We did venture out one more time later to enjoy pizza at a German beer garden before officially calling it a night.

Special thanks to: Kathy, Pete, Andrew and Jack for our amazing Airbnb cottage stay!
