Highway 6 to Makarora

We apologize for not updating the blog the past few days...we have been out of any sort of internet connection. In fact, we've been in a "no service" zone. Anyway, here is an update of one of the missing days!

To back track a couple of days to 2.18:

We took off from Greymouth to drive further South on Highway 6 to Makarora (change of plan from Wanaka due to the location of fishing.) The positive of this was a shorter drive by about an hour...yay! What a beautiful highway to cruise down a second day. Here are some photos we captured on the way.

A pretty river:

Fox Glacier to our right in the background:

Driving along the coast for a bit:

Another pretty river:

And another pretty river:

One of the many waterfalls cascading down the mountains:

When we reached our destination of Makarora, we were checked into a cute A-frame house for the night:

We then went for a little walk on the property with a glass of wine behind the house. On the way we found this cool purple mushroom:

And a lush forest with tall trees:

Since we missed the opportunity to get a massage upon our arrival in Auckland, we decided to put that money toward the accommodation for the night before our 2 fishing days, and the night after at an AirBnB in Wanaka.

Special thank you to Max, Stelios, Kelley, Megan, Kim, Raine, Kyle and Amber for this night in the A-frame house!

All and all it was another successful day on the stunning Highway 6! The following couple of days were devoted to fishing. More on that in the upcoming posts.
